I have reviewed some tools that are free and very available to people on the world wide web. I have explained a couple that I have looked into using in my future classroom.
www.blogger.com/start
This website is a site in which one can hold conversations and share thoughts and ideas. The blogger website can be linked to any site that you are one. Many people use blogger to simply keep track of their lives like an online journal. One can follow celebrities or family members on blogger.
I think this is a great site to incourporate into my wikispace. I would like there to be a place where students can blog eachother for help as well as parents with questions and suggestions. Of course, I can also put daily events in class on blogger and answer questions, almost like a recorded chat.
www.mypodcast.com
On mypodcast.com one can create and view podcasts, as well as have favorites from a variety of podcasts from around the world. One can search certain topics that they are concerned about as well as create podcasts to respond to them, or on their own topic.
This site is great for my classroom. In such cases that I can't make it to school for whatever reason. I can just make a podcast of the general lesson plans to make my subs life so much easier and to allow my students fromm falling too far behind. In cases where I may have a very sick student this website may also allow me to stay connected to the sick student so he/she doesn't get behind.
www.worditout.com
Worditout is a website designed to break down text and highlight areas that students might be able to get a better grasp on the important material. The website allows one to take an exerpt of text and place it in a diagram looking page that picks out main ideas and highlights certain areas.
e confusing and long. Word it out could be very useful in my lesson plans. A lot of the time with math and definitions in the book can be confusing and long. With worditout I'll be able to pick out the highlighted words to help the students obtain a better understanding. On this site I can also take a math problem with several steps and break each step down in description and example to help students.
www.graphjam.memebase.com
This website goes over the basics for graphing and would be great when getting ready for a presentaion. This site can also help people get a better understanding of graphs by making them. It also helps when comparing how some graphs display certain information better than other graphs.
This would be a great tool for students to use when they need to graph their own information. It would hlep them understand how to set up different kinds of graphs and by setting them and putting in their own information.
www.yacapaca.com
Yacapaca.com is a tool that allows one to search quizzes or test in certain content areas. One can take them to study and once again gain better knowledge of their subject matter.
Students can create quizzes for eachother or themselves on this website to help them study together. Also I can create tests for my students from the test they created or from my own material.
